Swiss Army Man

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2016

Genres: Drama, Comedy, Adventure, Romance, Queer

Content Warnings: hover to reveal (spoilers!)

This is a movie abount a man stranded on an island who befriends a farting corpse played by Daniel Radcliffe. I.... LOVE IT. Might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I promise you this has much more than just flatulance humor (otherwise I wouldn't like it either!). It makes me cry every time.
Little Miss Sunshine

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 2006

Genres: Drama, Comedy

This is jsut all-around a great, feel-good movie! There's not a single reason not to watch it, so do it!
The Avengers

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2012

Genres: Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

If you're never going to watch any other Marvel movie, watch this one. It was awesome back then, and it still holds up as one of the best (if not the best) Marvel movie ever created IMO. It also has the whole (old) team, so it's a good introduction to the franchise!
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2002

Genres: Animation, Adventure, Western, Drama, Family

One of the best animated movies of all time. If you like horses and the Wild West, this is a must-watch. It also has fantastic music and a great story. Absolutely iconic movie. (The poster does not do it justice.)
The Stag

My rating: ★★★★

Year: 2013

Genres: Comedy

This used to be my favorite movie. I watched it for Andrew Scott, and didn't expect much, but it's SO funny and heartwarming. It still has a spot in my heart.
The Hunger Games

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2012

Genres: Fantasy, Adventure, Sci-Fi

I don't think I have to say much about this except: Watch this if you haven't, and rewatch it if you have.
Knives Out

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2019

Genres: Mystery, Comedy, Crime

If you like 'whodunit's you will love this. Daniel Craig is fantastic in it, he has so much fun playing the role and it's really noticable.
Jurassic Park

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 1993

Genres: Sci-Fi, Adventure

DINOSAURS! JEFF GOLDBLUM! LAURA DERN! Have I mentioned dinosaurs? No but really, this is one of my favorite movies, it's a classic for a reason. And it's actually quite terrifying.
Zodiac

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2007

Genres: Drama, Crime, Thriller, Mystery

Content Warnings: hover to reveal (spoilers!)

This is a perfect thriller movie. It's about the Zodiac killer, and not for the faint-hearted, but it's so good. I usually don't like over-long movies but this one is an exception because it keeps you on the edge of your seat for all of its 157 minutes of runtime.
The Princess Bride

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 1987

Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Comedy, Family

This movie has a cult following and I 100% understand why. It's quite old, but the humor holds up, and the characters are very memorable. It feels like a fairy tale. And it's hilarious and very quotable.
Crazy, Stupid, Love.

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 2011

Genres: Comedy, Romance

This is my favorite rom-com! It's just miles ahead of any other rom-com. It focuses on more than just one couple, and the plot lines connect neatly together at the end. I highly recommend it!
Jennifer's Body

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 2009

Genres: Comedy, Horror, Queer

A quintessential sapphic movie with a great cast, absolutely perfect for spooky month. You can watch this even if you don't like scary movies.
It

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2017

Genres: Horror

My favorite horror movie, because it doesn't rely on the horror aspects to make it interesting! The focus here are the kids and their friendship, which really pays off because as a viewer you absolutely begin to love them. Watch the sequel too, I think it's just as good! Neither of them are very scary though, so don't watch this looking for a big thrill.
