Here are some books I've enjoyed and would definitely recommend!

You can also seem them on my goodreads profile!

Filter:
The Secret History
Donna Tartt

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 1992

Genres: Horror

Content Warnings: hover to reveal (spoilers!)

Do you like dark academia? Do you like fucked up characters that bond over horrible things? Do you enjoy hating characters? Are you insane? If you've answered Yes to any of these questions, read this book. It's long, but it's worth it.
20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Jules Verne

My rating: ★★★★

Year: 1869

Genres: Sci-Fi, Adventure, Classics

It's an old book, and it takes you on a journey through the world's oceans. Some sections are a bit boring (mostly descriptions of various sea creatures), but everything else is great. Read it if you like retro-futurism.
The Martian
Andy Weir

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2011

Genres: Sci-Fi, Adventure

The perfect book for if you're in a reading slump, because it's hilarious from literally the first sentence on, and it never gets boring. I highly recommend the audio book too!
Watership Down
Richard Adams

My rating: ★★★★

Year: 1972

Genres: Classics, Fantasy

Content Warnings: hover to reveal (spoilers!)

Do you like Warrior Cats? Well, here's something similar but with rabbits! It's quite gorey and even scary at times, nothing for children! Also watch the classic movie.
Harry Potter

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 1997

Genres: Fantasy

Yeah. It's awesome. What can I say. Fuck the author. Fun fact: I'm one of those rare people whose favorite character is Harry.
Warriors
Erin Hunter

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2003

Genres: Fantasy, Xenofiction

Content Warnings: hover to reveal (spoilers!)

I read this series as a kid and recently re-read it, thinking that it's going to be childish, but it wasn't. It holds up very well. The plot and the characters are just great. If you like cats (who doesn't? let's be real) read it!
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time
Mark Haddon

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 2003

Genres: Mystery

This used to be my favorite book. It's a quick read, and I really like it. There's not much more I can say to it. Time to re-read it. Again.
Flowers in the Attic
V.C. Andrews

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 1979

Genres: Horror

Content Warnings: hover to reveal (spoilers!)

I once googled 'What's the most fucked up book?' and this came up. I read it, and it did not disappoint. It's really, really fucking good though.
Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind
Yuval Noah Harari

My rating: ★★★★★

Year: 2011

Genres: Nonfiction

My favorite non-fiction book. I picked this up without knowing anything about it because it was on sale, and it blew my mind. I love the first section especially, which is about pre-history. This book changed the way I look at life.
Sex at Dawn
Christopher Ryan, Cacilda Jethá

My rating: ★★★★½

Year: 2010

Genres: Nonfiction

This is a great non-fiction book about human sexuality. The focus lies on how polyamory is natural, and monogamy is cultural. As a polyamorous person, this gave me so much joy. I'M NORMAL, YOU'RE THE WEIRD ONES.
